Day 19 of the Digital Curation of Puffenberger’s Religious Artifacts

Today we finally started the interviews for our “for educators” and “for students” pages and getting videos of descriptions and background of the artifacts. Dr. Jeff Long came into today to talk about 12 of the artifacts. Dr. Long focused mainly on the artifacts from Eastern countries such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. Dr. Long gave descriptions of the artifacts as well as expanded on some of the questions that I had for him. We then asked Dr. Long for his insights on how the digital collection will be used in his classroom and beyond. Dr. Long is probably one of the Professors that uses the physical collection the most so it was interesting to here his opinions on the digital collection. But he was excited about it and said that it allows students and faculty to use the collection outside of the classroom. Dr. Long explained that a digital collection is useful because we can never run out of space and we can continuously add to the collection, maybe even his own artifacts in the future. Tomorrow we tentatively have an interview with Dr. Puffenberger about some more artifacts. Tomorrow I will also focus on editing since we got about an hour of footage with Dr. Long. I am happy with what we have so far!
