Daily Blog #19: Digitization of the Puffenberger Religious Artifacts Collection

This week, Amal  and I are focused on interviewing several professors and recording their commentary on some of the artifacts to upload on our Omeka site. Today, we were able to interview Dr. Jeff Long. Dr. Long is a professor from the Religious Studies department who teaches courses on the Dharma traditions. We decided to ask him to speak on a lot of the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain artifacts, knowing that he had a lot of experience and knowledge on these religions. Dr. Long was able to talk about 12 artifacts, spending about 5 minutes on each one. He was very knowledgeable and revealed some information that we could not find through by just researching. We plan on editing each video down to about one minute, and adding it to each specific item’s Dublin Core. By uploading these interviews, it will allow everyone to watch and listen to the great information that Dr. Long had to offer on each artifact that we showed him. After we interviewed Dr. Long, Amal and I uploaded the footage of the commentary and we will edit later this week. Tomorrow, we hope to interview Dr. Puffenberger on some of his favorite objects.
