Recent Updates to Canvas: September 2016

Canvas recently released some useful updates.  Take a look at the overview video or read the full release notes for all of the details.

Some of the highlights from the release notes include:

  • If you use the Attendance tool, students can view their attendance as part of the Attendance assignment submission details page. Students can also access Attendance submission details from the Grades page. Please note: In order for students to see the attendance details, the faculty member must take attendance at least one time since Sept. 22nd so that the new feature is deployed.
  • The Notifications page includes updated icons and background color contrast. Additionally, the notification descriptions have been removed from the icon tooltips and displayed directly below the notification preferences page heading.
  • In the grade book and Speedgrader, if a student is accidentally awarded an unusually high amount of points, an alert will display. This may help catch typing errors such as a 10 versus 100 point score.
