Day 11 of the Digital Curation of the Puffenberger’s Religious Artifacts
Today was a lot like yesterday! The goal for this week continues to be populating the website with as much content as possible. As I was going through many of my descriptions for the artifacts I have already put in, I realize there are a lot of edits that I need to make, which I have mentioned before in my research running log. Carol and Dr. Newton suggested that if anyone decided to proof read, editing on excel would be the best option. I put all the information I have inputed into excel so if anybody wants to edit my work, they can do so and leave a comment on the page. I will look at and update the excel sheet daily so I can see if there are any edits I need to make. As far as my proof reading, I plan on putting in all 25 artifacts first and then going back and editing. I prefer a day of editing so I can get into a rhythm of what grammar is appropriate and checking all the links, etc. Today, Dr. Kenley also came by to see if he could answer some of my questions about the Hawaiian Indigenous artifact. I decided yesterday that my most educated guess would be that the statue is representing Kanaloa due to the statue’s braids. Dr. Kenley was not sure either but suggest I email someone at the University of Hawai’i, which is exactly what I did. I emailed Dr. Lilikalā K. Kame’eleihiwa, a professor of Hawaiian studies to ask her if she could offer any help in identifying the object. I sent her a picture of the statue and I will wait for her response in hopes that she knows what the statue is! Today I also compiled all the photos from the blogs so that I could begin the iMovie trailer. My plan is to show the blog post pictures to help explain the mission of this project in about minute. For tomorrow, a lot more research is expected, but its been a productive week!
