Scholarship & Creative Arts Day 2023 – OT Student wins the Anna Carper Excellence in Library Research Award

Olyvia Serillo, winner of the Anna Carper Excellence in Research  AwardCongratulations to Olyvia Serillo who won the Anna Carper Excellence in Library Research Award. The Anna Carper Excellence in Library Research Award rewards excellent scholarship by students enrolled in the First-Year Seminars who make valuable use of the print and electronic collections of the High Library as well as other available information resources.  Anna Carper Excellence in Library Research Award is supported by an endowment funded by the Carper Family and named after Anna M. Carper ‘41, Librarian of the College from 1960 to 1986.

Olyvia Serillo won for her research paper “Benefits of Equine Therapy Within Occupational Therapy.” She wrote it for her English 100 Writing and Language course with Dr. Tara Moore. Olyvia is a first-year Occupational Therapy major. In a reflection essay she submitted as part of her application, she stated that she wanted to research a topic related to her major and that she “was excited to learn about something new related to [occupational therapy].” She began her research using resources available from the High Library and spent a month working on the paper through multiple drafts. Congratulations, Olyvia, on your fantastic work!
