Daily Blog #17: Digitization of the Puffenberger Religious Artifacts Collection

Our day started out with a review of the outline of our SCARP paper that is due at the end of the summer. Dr. Newton wanted to make sure that we knew exactly what should be in our paper. We discussed what our assertions, thesis, and conclusion should look like, along with some of the logistics of the paper. After Amal and I wrote out the outline on the whiteboard again, we explained to Carol what our paper would include, because she was not here yesterday for our first discussion about the paper. After our discussion, we resumed our work on our Omeka.

Well into the afternoon, I proofread all 25 of the artifacts that I had added Dublin Core to throughout this week. After I proofread, I helped Amal with the website trailer. I did a couple voiceover parts for her and then I started to retake pictures of the artifacts we first cataloged. Because I figured out how to create 360-degree videos after the first several artifacts were cataloged I went back through and created videos for the eight artifacts that we cataloged at the beginning of the project. I also recorded the dimensions of some of the objects that did not have anything recorded previously. Towards the end of the day, I emailed several professors to see if they would like to participate in our project by contributing to our “Educators” page. I hope to hear back from them soon and begin to start setting up dates and times that we can interview and discuss how they have and will use the Puffenberger collection of religious artifacts in their courses.
