Day 5 of the Digital Curation of the Puffenberger Artifacts
Today, as we begin to explore the Omeka site, we redesigned what we hope the website to look like (as seen below). Because both Hannah and I are not familiar with Omeka, we met with librarians, Thomas Z. and Sarah P., that had some background with coding and Omeka. They wer every helpful and willing to answer our questions that would help us meet Dublin Core Standards and how to add some of the plugins we want to add into our website. We also figured out how to imbed media, specifically youtube videos into the website which will be very helpful once we start the film interviews with Dr. Puffenberger and other professors. We are also planning on what we want to include in our interviews with Dr. Puffenberger, such as: asking him what are his favorite artifacts, where did he get them from, when and why, why is that particular artifact significant in that tradition, is their a subgroup that the artifact is associated with within its specified tradition, what was his hope for the artifacts and how did he use it in a classroom setting, and more. Next week, my hope is to start researching links and sources that will be associated with each artifact and continue to improve the website.
