Canvas Tip of the Week: Organizing Module Content

As we continue to get used to Canvas and transition our workflows from the “Blackboard way of doing things” to Canvas, one of the biggest changes may be that content is organized differently in Canvas.  In Blackboard, course content was organized by the type of content.  In Canvas, it is organized by time.  So, if you have content that was brought over from Bb, you may see modules named “Content” or “Assignments” or “Information”.  Take some time to drag and drop the items under these modules into the proper week when a student would need to access the item.  Why?  By placing all of the content a student needs to prepare for one class or assignment in one place, it is much clearer and quicker to access the content they need.

Faculty needing help with course design and content clean up can contact Linda Macaulay for assistance.  Students who are having difficulty finding course content in Canvas may want to also email Linda. Faculty who want content copied from a previous semester to a Spring 2016 Canvas course should fill out the “Course Copy Request Form.”
