May 8, 2013 from 2:00-3:30 – Technology Tools for Educators – Webinar sponsored by iClicker – The fast pace of technological change has many of feeling left behind. Our day-to-day work leaves us feeling too busy to seek out tech tools that may help us be more efficient. What are the newest technologies that you can use right now?  Email macaulayl@etown.edu if you are interested in attending this session held in Nicarry 210.

        from 1:00-4:30 – Excel 2010 Introduction
        Meets in Nicarry 108

Become comfortable setting up and formatting a spreadsheet, work with page settings and printing features specific to Excel. Enter and edit words and numbers, understand error messages and learn to create formulas and some of the basic functions like AVERAGE and COUNT.

May 20, 2013 Non-Credit Computer Training
        1:00-4:30 Excel 2010 as a Database
        Meets in Nicarry 210

Methods of filtering, outlining, subtotaling, sorting and searching to display only relevant data is possible in Excel. Use database functions to retrieve an answer and pivot tables to see trends. Try the consolidate command to summarize. If you are familiar with Excel and want to make it more useful, join this class.

9:00-10:00 Camtasia for Screen/Lecture Capture – Basic Overview – Preparation, recording your computer screen, basic editing, saving and sharing projects will be covered.
10:00-11:00 Camtasia – Advanced Editing and Features – Applying “Smart Focus”, adding callouts and hyperlinks, animations and transitions, and cleaning up audio will be covered.
11:00-12:00 Camtasia – Assessment – Camtasia allows you to add short answer, multiple choice, fill in the blank and true/false questions throughout your videos. Results can be
emailed to you daily. Not only can this help you collect assessment data on student outcomes, but it can also help students stay engaged.

9:00-10:00 iClickers – Basic Overview and Setup – Downloading the iClicker software, creating courses, adding course roster and registering clickers, and customizing settings will be covered.
10:00-11:00 iClickers – Questioning and Assessment Techniques – Effective teaching strategies (spark discussion, address misconceptions, provide feedback, assess understanding of content), writing effective questions, and uploading iClicker data into Blackboard will be covered.
11:00-12:00 Free Tools for Student Assessment – PollEverywhere, Google Forms; iPad Apps – NearPod, Paperport Notes

9:00-10:00 Blackboard – Basic Overview – Logging in, site navigation, and feature overview
10:00-11:00 Blackboard – Adding Assignments – Content items vs. assignments, individual or group assignments, working with the text editor
11:00-12:00 Blackboard – Assessments and Grade Center – Creating and adding tests, test vs. survey, customizing test options, weighted grades, customizing grade center
