But now that the fall semester is in full swing, and summer officially ends next week, we decided to ask faculty, \u201cwhat did you do on your summer vacation?\u201d (&#8230;aka summer break.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_981\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-981\" style=\"width: 373px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/09\/Assateague-Ponies-1024x710.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-981\" src=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/09\/Assateague-Ponies-1024x710.jpg\" alt=\"Wild Horses at Assateague Island National Seashore\" width=\"373\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/09\/Assateague-Ponies-1024x710.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/09\/Assateague-Ponies-1024x710-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-981\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wild horses at the Assateague Island National Seashore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Did you know that two faculty members attended and presented at the Teaching Professor Conference in Atlanta, Georgia? \u00a0 Meanwhile, two other faculty members attended the Center for Occupational Therapy Education annual summer institute in Colorado. \u00a0Our chairperson traveled to <a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/2015\/04\/06\/vietnam-service-learning-trip-in-may-2015\/\">Vietnam<\/a> with a biology professor and 20 students as part of a May term course. \u00a0Our chairperson also completed a lengthy departmental annual report for the college. \u00a0Three faculty members worked on doctoral research proposals and associated activities. \u00a0Several faculty members engaged in clinical practice with pediatrics or adults.\u00a0 Our FW coordinator and five additional faculty members visited 70+ level II students throughout PA, NJ, MD, DE, VA, NY\u2026and more. \u00a0At least two faculty members engaged in professional writing, preparing manuscripts for publication. Others read books, journal articles and other materials in preparation for teaching courses this fall.<\/p>\n<p>On a personal note, faculty also engaged in various leisure pursuits. \u00a0A summer theater program found one faculty member helping to create sets and costumes. \u00a0Faculty members did some local and distant traveling to various vacation spots and attractions including Hershey Park, Longwood Gardens, the Philadelphia Art Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, Assateague Island National Seashore, Maine, and various beaches. \u00a0Gardening, concerts, swimming, camping, hiking, biking, reading (for fun!) , and spending time with family helped round out the faculty members\u2019 \u201coccupations\u201d this summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWhat I did on my summer vacation\u201d \u2013 the all-familiar dreaded essay when children return to school.\u00a0 It\u2019s a long-running joke in comic strips and movies.
