Over 5,000 occupational therapy practitioners attended, representing 66 countries. Etown was there, too, as represented by associated professors Dr. Tam Humbert and Dr. Nancy Carlson Steadman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-sign.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-303\" alt=\"Welcome sign for the World Federation of OT congress\" src=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-sign.jpg\" width=\"378\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-sign.jpg 378w, https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-sign-300x266.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Several presentations highlighted some of the work of Elizabethtown College\u2019s occupational therapy program.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_305\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-305\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Nancy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-305\" alt=\"Dr. Carlson Steadman with her poster at WFOT\" src=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Nancy-300x224.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Nancy-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Nancy.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-305\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Nancy Carlson Steadman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dr. Carlson Steadman presented a poster, \u201cA systematic review of interventions in families\u2019 routines: \u00a0An occupational therapy perspective.\u201d Contributing authors were Chelsea Gibson (\u201913) &amp; Sara Hardy (\u201913).<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Humbert presented a poster, &#8220;Learning Together: The Linguistic, Cultural and Disciplinary Border Crossings of an\u00a0Occupational\u00a0Therapy and Foreign Language Education Collaboration.&#8221; Co-authors were Dr.\u00a0Charla Lorenzen, Brittani Nelson (&#8217;13) and Allyson Wells (&#8217;13).<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Humbert presented a paper\u00a0entitled, \u00a0&#8220;Reflections on the Use of the\u00a0Kawa\u00a0Model in Phenomenological Research.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_304\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-304\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Tam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-304\" alt=\"Dr. Tam Humbert with her poster at WFOT \" src=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Tam-300x293.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Tam-300x293.jpg 300w, https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2014\/07\/WFOT-Tam.jpg 344w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Tam Keiter Humbert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dr.\u00a0Humbert\u00a0was also invited to present her work, &#8220;Comprehending Domestic Violence using the\u00a0Kawa\u00a0Model&#8221; at the Japan &#8211; World Kawa Model International Symposium at the University of Tokyo. Dr. Michael Iwama and other noteworthy colleagues attended, which afforded Dr. Humbert an opportunity to join an international dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>Other highlights included walking past the roller coaster at Cosmo World each day on the way to the Conference Center, using chopsticks, touring the silk museum, seeing Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines, enjoying contemplative gardens, and being with OTs from so many different spaces and places in the world!!<\/p>\n<p>The next WFOT Congress will be in South Africa, 2018.
