During the spring semester of 2015, students enrolled in a 2-credit class where they learned about the history and culture of Vietnam, practiced conversational Vietnamese, and planned activities for the children and youth at the orphanages and centers. The students also raised money to buy supplies, including bicycles, food, vitamins, clothing, and to make to renovations at some of the centers. Altogether they, along with Brittany\u2019s Hope trip participants, raised over $40,000 to support service projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1083\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1083\" style=\"width: 383px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/10\/IMG_0306-1024x683.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1083\" src=\"http:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/10\/IMG_0306-1024x683-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Adults and children playing outside with a parachute\" width=\"383\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/10\/IMG_0306-1024x683-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/ot\/files\/2015\/10\/IMG_0306-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1083\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Enjoying the parachute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\">Donations were also solicited from <strong><a style=\"color: #333399\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flaghouse.com\/Special-Needs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Flaghouse<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a style=\"color: #333399\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncmedical.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">North Coast<\/a><\/strong>. North Coast donated adaptive equipment, feeding equipment, and splinting materials and tools. Flaghouse donated feeding equipment, sensory toys, and a large parachute that provided hours of fun for all. We were grateful for the outpouring of donations from family, friends, vendors, and even strangers as their gifts enabled us to provide tangible and needed support to the centers we visited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\">[Verses 3-5&#8230;to be continued]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Planning for the trip began early in the fall semester of 2014.
