Elizabethtown College Marketing student Lucas Cunningham ’23 launched his own clothing company, C&B Outdoor, in August 2021. The company sells a variety of apparel, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and beanies. Their motto, “Free Your Journey,” reflects their dedication to encouraging patrons to be the best versions of themselves, to work toward achieving their dreams, and to support others while they’re doing the same.

Cunningham’s passion for entrepreneurship began with the creation of his landscape company, Cunningham & Bates Landscape Services, in the summer of 2020. After finding success with his first business, he had the desire to create something that could reach a larger audience.

Cunningham’s primary mission with C&B Outdoor is to provide a durable product line suitable for anyone who shares a passion for exploring the outdoors, but he also has a desire to inspire his customers through every purchase.

“Beyond selling reliable products, we want to inspire people to go further than they have ever been before, to set goals, and to work toward that self-fulfilling dream,” said Cunningham, who, in addition to selling his clothing online, has hosted pop-up events at Etown to make hisproducts available to the campus community.

C&B Outdoor is also a proud member of “1% for the Planet,” an organization that funds diverse environmental organizations so they can collectively become a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems.

“Our commitment to 1% for the Planet emphasizes our responsibility to give back to nonprofits focused on preserving the land we all enjoy,” remarked Cunningham.

Cunningham is grateful for the support he’s received throughout this process from the students and faculty at Etown.

“During my time here at Elizabethtown College, I have been inspired by my professor and advisor Dr. Bryan Greenberg to follow my passion,” said Cunningham. “His lessons on developing a brand position definitely helped me when it came to figuring out what type of products we wanted to sell.”
