Elizabethtown College Assistant Professor of Education Kathryn Caprino will relaunch #EtownCollegeReads, a virtual book club open to students, faculty, staff, and alumni on July 1. The Book Club will now be hosted on Etown Edge, the College’s online micro-credential platform.

Caprino originally organized the book club in the fall of 2019 for her education students to talk about contemporary books to be used in the classroom but has expanded it to include all members of the College community. Whereas the group previously came together for Zoom chats, the discussions will now take place online and asynchronously on Etown Edge. Members may also share their ideas about the books on Twitter using #EtownCollegeReads.

“The goal is to make the club as accessible as possible for the entire Etown community,” said Caprino. “We love that our education major students participate, but we would also like to expand the group and create a reading community across campus and beyond. Being able to utilize Etown Edge makes it easy for those with a busy schedule to communicate with the group on their own timeline.”

The club will select one book for the summer, fall, and spring. This summer’s book is The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis. Readers can take the discussion online at any time by searching for “#EtownCollegeReads” at edge.etown.edu. They will then be asked to enroll in the free course. Once enrolled, members can keep up with the upcoming book selections, find out more about the book club, and share ideas about all things literary. For further information on how to be a part of the club, contact Katie Caprino at caprinok@etown.edu.
