Since graduating from Elizabethtown College with her degree in Mass Communications, Irene Synder ’17 has achieved great success working for WFMZ-TV in Berks County, Pa. Until recently, Snyder served as a television reporter for WFMZ-TV and was awarded a Mid-Atlantic Emmy award for her piece called “Unknown Angel,” a story about a woman who anonymously delivers handcrafted angels to victims of tragedy in an effort to restore hope in their lives.

Coming from a homeschool background, Snyder quickly became involved in many of Etown’s campus media organizations, including ECTV 40 and WWEC 88.3, the student-run television and radio stations. While at Etown, she interned at WGAL-8 and ABC-27. Snyder also worked at Lancaster Online as a multimedia journalist/digital media producer prior to starting her job at WFMZ in 2018. She credits her many communications professors for helping her gain connections for internships and later helping her secure her first reporting job at Lancaster Online.

Snyder recently took a new job in Phoenix, Arizona, where she will be a general assignment reporter for FOX 10. When asked about her hopes for the future of her career, Snyder said, “I certainly want to continue reporting and telling more stories. As long as I am a storyteller, I know that I’ll be happy.”
