Elizabethtown Music Department holds its annual Fall Choral Showcase and Jazz Band Spectacular
Elizabethtown College holds its annual Homecoming Fall Choral Showcase and Jazz Band Spectacular on Saturday, Oct. 19. These events are being held in the M&M Mars Room and the Musser Auditorium in the Leffler Chapel and Performance Center building from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
These events feature performances by the Elizabethtown College-Community Chorus, led by Professor Matthew P. Fritz and the Elizabethtown College Jazz Band, conducted by music professor and director Grant W. Moore and Fenice, led by Professor of Voice Anne Gross. Each ensemble performs music across a variety of genres, including Swahili, Latvian, English and Hebrew. The “Agnus Dei,” Roman Catholic Latin Mass used to celebrate God and performed in acapella and Carol Barnett’s “The World Beloved: a Bluegrass Mass” are just a few of the symphonies being played during these events.
All music performed during these events is meant to celebrate peace, love and reconciliation, states Fritz. To make this purpose known, the band is also playing music to commemorate the people killed in the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting that took place last fall.
Admission is free, and all are welcome to drop in for a listen.
