Recently, Elizabethtown College was named one of the 224 best colleges in the Northeast according to The Princeton Reviewâ. The education services company lists E-town in the Best in the Northeast section of its “2020 Best Colleges: Region by Region” website.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the top colleges in the Northeast,” Elizabethtown College President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D. said. “We offer a student-centered culture along with the resources and tools necessary for our students to graduate in four years and make an impact on the world.”
The website feature salutes a total of 656 colleges that The Princeton Review recommends over five regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West, and International. The colleges that made the “Best in the Northeast” list are located in eleven Northeastern states and the District of Columbia.
“We chose Elizabethtown College and the other outstanding institutions on this list primarily for their academics,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s Editor-in-Chief. He noted that the company considered data from its survey of administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, information from staff visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of college counselors and advisors whose perspectives the company solicits. “We also consider what students enrolled at the schools reported to us on our student survey about their campus experiences,” Franek added.
The Princeton Review survey asks students to rate their colleges on dozens of issues and to answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life. Comments from surveyed students are quoted in the school profiles on The Princeton Review website.
In its website profile on Elizabethtown College, The Princeton Review shares a student describing the college faculty stating, “They really take an interest not just in your school work, but are eager to know about your personal life and are willing to do anything to help you succeed.”
The 224 colleges The Princeton Review chose for its “Best in the Northeast” 2020 list are located in 11 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont — and the District of Columbia. The Princeton Review also designated 159 in the Midwest, 127 in the West, 142 in the Southeast and 4 in the International region as “best” in their locales on the company’s “2020 Best Colleges: Region by Region” lists. Collectively, the 656 colleges on The Princeton Review’s “regional best” lists for 2020 constitute about 22% of the nation’s 3,000 four-year colleges.
