The NHI 2019 Northeast Series Program helps Latino students prepare for postsecondary education.
The National Hispanic Institute, providing Latino leadership education programs to top-performing high school students in the United States, Mexico, and Latin American and South American countries, is holding its 2019 Northeast Collegiate World Series program at Elizabethtown College from July 17 to 21.
“We’re committed to expanding access to higher education and helping young people to realize their goals,” Elizabethtown College Vice President of Admissions George Walter said.
The program gives 125 Latino students from 10 states across the country, Mexico, and Puerto Rico an opportunity to learn more about the college application, financial aid process, and be introduced to inquiry-based learning.
“It’s so great that E-town has shown its commitment to this partnership. It’s so valuable for these students to get this exposure on college campuses,” Elizabethtown College Assistant Director for Admissions for Latino and Hispanic Outreach Oz Uraga-Barba said. “This event brings in students from underrepresented groups and that can be so impactful for them in in their futures.”
It is the third and final program in NHI’s series for high school students who wish to become community leaders. NHI was founded in the late 1970s by Ernesto Nieto and Gloria de Leon.
