Annually, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies inducts students into the Chi Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda at Elizabethtown College. Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) is an honors society, founded in 1946 at Northwestern University in Chicago. It is a means of motivation and recognition for adult learners who maintain high scholastic averages, while handling career and family responsibilities. Currently, there are over 300 chapters of ASL at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
In order to receive an invitation into membership, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be matriculated into a bachelor’s degree program and have junior/senior status.
- Complete a minimum of 30 graded credits at Elizabethtown College, with at least 12 credits in the Liberal Arts/Core Program.
- Achieve a minimum cumulative G.P.A of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Be ranked in the top 20% of qualifying adult learners.
This year SCPS inducted 11 new members on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the Bucher Meetinghouse at the Young Center. Three additional members will be inducted virtually on a future date.
