Suping Chen, adjunct instructor of Chinese and assistant coordinator of International Recruitment, published an original short story, “Hello From the Other Side,” on The Burg in December 2016.

Oya Dursun-Ozkanca, associate professor of political science and director of international studies minor, published a solo-authored article “The Peacebuilding Assembly-Line Model: Towards a Theory of International Collaboration in Multidimensional Peacebuilding Operations” in International Journal of Peace Studies, Volume 21, Number 2. Dursun-Ozkanca also was invited to serve as a discussant at South East Europe Security Conference organized by the German Institute for International Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik), December 15 and 16, 2016, in Berlin.

Richard Fellinger, Fellow in The Writing Wing, published an LNP op-ed on the dangers of the post-fact era.

Kirsten Johnson, associate professor in the Department of Communications, co-authored a textbook, titled “Shoot, Edit, Share: Video Production for Mass Media, Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations.”

Peter Licona, assistant professor of PK-12 STEM education, has co-authored, with Greg Kelly of Penn State University, a book chapter on epistemic practices and science education, which will be included in the 2017 “History, Philosophy and Science Teaching: New Research Perspectives.”

Licona also completed an Engineering is Elementary (EiE) Teacher Educator Institute at the Museum of Science, Boston, Massachusetts. This training will allow him to facilitate EiE professional development workshops for preservice and in-service science teachers.

Alexandria Poole, assistant professor of philosophy, organized a two-part panel to present at the annual Philosophy of the City Conference at the University of San Francisco, California, in November 2016. The panel, “Extending the Land Ethic into the City,” was composed of participants from the 2016 NEH Summer Institute “Extending the Land Ethic,” in which Poole participated as a research scholar this past summer. She also presented her talk, “The Socio-Politics of Walking in the Land Ethic,” which explored issues of privilege in relation to ecological knowledge.

Jeff Rood, associate professor of chemistry, and research students Ashley Landis ’15, D.J. Forster ’14 and Tim Goldkamp ’12 co-authored “Solvent dependence of the solid-state structures of salicylaldiminate magnesium amide complexes,” which was published in Acta Crystallographica C.

Michael Roy, associate professor of psychology, along with Laura Getz ’09 and Joseph Radvezick (Gettysburg College) published the article, “The manifestation of stress and rumination in musicians,” in the journal Muziki. The article was part of a special section on health in musicians organized by former E-town faculty member Karendra Devroop. Roy also presented “The whole is not the sum of its parts: Individual estimates of duration do not add up to the global estimates” at the recent Society for Judgment and Decision Making conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The research was done in collaboration with former student Tatem Burns ’16.
