Dr. Douglas Bomberger, professor of music, had a review of musical scores by George Whitefield Chadwick published in the Journal of the Society for American Music.


Dr. Dan Chen
, assistant professor of political science and Asian studies, had the research article, “Facilitating Public Service Provision: The Emerging Role of Municipal Television News in China,” accepted for The China Quarterly.


Dr. Kyle Kopko
, assistant professor of political science and director of the Pre-Law and Honors programs, had an article accepted for publication in the spring edition of CUR Quarterly (Council on Undergraduate Research). The article assesses outcomes of NSF funding in the social sciences, with a particular emphasis on political science. The article grew out of a SCARP project in the summer of 2014; three students—Erin Krause ’16, Vincent Mcgonigle ’17 and 2015 alumna Ashley Edwards–are co-authors on the piece.


Dr. Jeffery Long
, professor of religion and Asian studies, and Dr. Mahua Bhattacharya, associate professor of Japanese, presented papers at a conferences in India over Winter Break.

Long presented on past life memory, quantum theory and Indian philosophy at the 22nd Vedanta Conference, Dec. 27 through 30, in New Delhi, and at the conference on Jainism and Science Jan. 8 through 10, at the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai (Bombay). This presentation was mentioned in the Times of India Mumbai edition.

Long and Bhattacharya gave presentations at a conference on the Indian Diaspora held Jan. 10 and 11 at Jawaharlal Nehru University, in New Delhi.

 

Dr. Fletcher McClellan, dean of faculty and professor of political science, presented the paper, “Teaching Critical Thinking in the Capstone Course for Political Science Students,” at the 13th annual meeting of the American Political Science Association Teaching and Learning Conference, held Feb. 12 through 14, in Portland, Oregon.

 

Don Muston, assistant professor of business emeritus, has been named a Distinguished Alumni for 2016 for the IU Singing Hoosiers. He will accept this honor in Bloomington, Indiana, on April 2. The Indiana University, Singing Hoosiers are one of the oldest Choral Groups in the Jacobs School of Music. Beginning in 1956, Muston sang bass II under the direction of Dr. George Krueger. The group has entertained millions in 18 states and more than 26 countries in Europe, Australia, Asia and the Caribbean. Muston has remained active the arts in local theatre and is a longtime member of the Elizabethtown College Community Chorus.

 

Dr. Mark Stuckey, professor of physics; Dr. Michael Silberstein, professor of philosophy; and Dr. Timothy McDevitt, professor of mathematics had the paper, “Underwriting Information-Theoretic Accounts of Quantum Mechanics with a Realist, Psi-Epistemic Model,” accepted for publication in International Journal of Quantum Information.
