Dr. Michael G. Long, associate professor of religious studies and director of peace and conflict studies, had the book he edited, Gay Is Good: The Life and Letters of Gay Rights Pioneer Franklin Kameny,featured on Advocate.com on Oct. 15. The article included some biography information of Kameny and a sample letter from the book.

 

Dr. Kyle Kopko, assistant professor of political science and director of the pre-law program, was quoted in the Oct. 26 Pittsburg Tribune-Review article, “Pa. Supreme Court in ‘sad state’ as scandals tarnish reputation.” Kopko was asked to comment on the email scandal unfolding in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Kopko also contributed to the Newsworks article, “Voter turnout trends lower in distressed cities” on Oct. 31. The article discussed the anomaly in voting numbers for Harrisburg and Erie.

 

Elizabethtown College was featured on the Oct. 28 ABC27 News at Noon segment for the Liberian ambassador’s visit to campus. The ambassador addressed the global cooperation needed to fight Ebola. The ambassador’s visit to campus also was in the Oct 28 LNP article, “Liberia’s ambassador to attend Lancaster prayer service Wednesday and speak in Elizabethtown;included in the Oct. 27 WITF Smart Talk segment; and appeared as an Associated Press story in more than four dozen media venues across the United States and in Canada and Liberia.

 

President Carl Strikwerda wrote “World War I has lessons to teach us to this day” which was printed in the Oct. 12 LNP opinion section. In the article he discussed the value of reflecting on the past to help us understand our current world.
