With social media bringing so many new options to the table, there are many new ways to view and share photos. This might lead some people to think yearbooks are a dying art. Not the case at Elizabethtown. This year, The Conestogan, the College’s yearbook, is adapting to new technology by asking students to submit photos their own photos online.

Conestogan staff members wanted a simpler way for students to submit photos to the publication. Allowing students to simply submit photos through an online web form makes the process quicker and easier and fits busy academic schedules.

We also hope that this way we can get the most accurate photos of the E-town students.”

“The major thing that made us want to do this was that we started a little late in the game and thought this would be a very responsive way to get people to submit their photos,” said first-year student and Conestogan staff member Masha Tomkus. “We also hope that this way we can get the most accurate photos of the E-town students.”

Since the increase in social media and usage of the Internet, some people believe that yearbooks have not been so popular, but that’s not the case.

“The yearbook is the only option that is a consistent representation of what happened that year in a storybook way,” said Ed Patrick, a representative for Balfour, the company that prints Elizabethtown College’s book. “Being able to submit photos online helps colleges because it makes it incredibility convenient to send out a website link and ask students to submit photos.”

Students are welcome to submit their photos for consideration here by using project number 471496 and the password Conestogan14. Also required to submit photos is the name, email address and phone number of the contributor. All students are encouraged to upload photos by the end of April.
