Dr. Donald Kraybill, professor and senior fellow at the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies, appeared on a Penn State News ‘Conversations Live’ segment about forgiveness. The article detailing the broadcast, “Upcoming ‘Conversations LIVE’ contemplates forgiveness after tragedy” was posted Feb. 17.

 

Elizabethtown College Theatre’s performance of ‘These Shining Live’ was featured in Lebanon Daily News’ “Out and About: E-town College play tells true story; Hershey Symphony goes ‘south’” Feb. 19. The article gave a summary of the play, show times and dates.

 

Duane Stoltzfus, Young Center guest, had his talk about soldiers imprisoned in World War I featured in Lancaster Newspapers’ “Bookends: Alec Kreider’s father talks at Pequea Valley Library” posted Feb. 21.

 

This drawn out winter had a lot of people down. The article, “How to pry yourself out of bed on cold, dreary winter mornings,” posted Feb. 24 on Lancaster Online, featuring a quote from Donna Talarico, might have been just the thing to help you perk up!

 

Dana Sachs, visiting author at E-town, was featured Feb. 27 in Lancaster Newspapers’ “Bookends: Former US poet laureate at F&M.” Sachs shared her perspective on writing and publishing and read from her work at an event held in Bowers Writers House.

 

A Young Center study was cited in the Feb. 28 Farm and Dairy article, “Starting a farm: Looking for land.” The study covered Amish population trends from 2008 to 2013.

 

Dr. Donald Kraybill, professor and senior fellow at the Young Center, was interview by WUIS radio about the Amish and food hubs. A link was posted March 3 at “Food Hubs Could Provide Crucial Link For Amish.”

 

A college tip article, “Consider dining options on campus, too,” published March 3 on Lancaster Online, offers advice about aspects of a college that high school students should not overlook during their search. Elizabethtown College was mentioned.

 

Amanda Cheetham, health educator for the College, and student wellness organizers, hosting the ‘Love Your Body Fashion Show,’ were featured in the Lancaster Newspaper article, “Elizabethtown College presents fashion show about self-esteem.” Posted March 10, the story previewed the upcoming event and quoted students participating in the show.

 

Sherri Gorman, the College’s head women’s basketball coach, was quoted in a March 10 Lancaster Newspapers article about the Lancaster Catholic High School coach “Longtime Lancaster Catholic girls’ basketball coach Lamar Kauffman announces retirement.”

 

Donna Talarico, director of integrated communications, was interviewed by higheredexperts.com for “Everyday #highered Content Strategy: Challenges & Tips by Donna Talarico (@donnatalarico ) from Elizabethtown College. Talarico was asked to comment on content in higher education for an industry blog posted March 11.

 

Jean-Paul Benowitz. assistant director of academic advising, and Peter J. DePuydt, reference librarian/archivist, authored “Elizabethtown College,” as part of “The Campus History Series.” Their work was featured in “Author Spotlight: ‘Elizabethtown College’” March 14. This broadcast appeared Friday, March 12, on ABC27’s Good Day PA.

 

Dr. Thomas Winpenny, professor of history, was quoted in “‘Visionary imagination’ of Amish Country tourists” published by Lancaster Newspapers March 14.  The article featured tourists’, as well as locals’, questions about the Amish of Lancaster County. Winpenny asked if Lancaster County’s Hamilton Watch Co. might have used radium. His question was inspired by the ‘These Shining Lives’ play recently performed by Elizabethtown College Theatre.

 

Dr. Matthew Skillen, director of English education, judged a Lancaster County spelling bee featured in the Lancaster Online article, “2013 champ Hannah Citsay wins spelling bee after hour long showdown with Janae Taft,” posted March 15.

 

The Lancaster Newspaper entertainment round-up piece, “Flutefest, a cuckoo’s nest and more this week” mentions the College’s Flutefest as one event worth battling the cold to attend for the week of March 17.

 

Dr. Colin Helb, assistant professor of communications, was quoted in the article, “NCAA bracket busting the company’s bottom line? Eh.,” posted March 18 by Lancaster Newspapers.  The story covers the increase in popularity of creating NCAA brackets and if this correlates to a drop in productivity and a loss of profits for businesses.
