Dr. Michael Silberstein, professor of philosophy, wrote a guest blog post, titled “Brain Fever Rising,” for the online edition of “Psychology Today” magazine published on Aug. 26. In the post, he analyzes the latest investments in brain sciences.

Dr. Michael Long, associate professor of religious studies and peace and conflict studies, was mentioned in a story produced by WNYC Online, titled “Brooklyn Cyclones to Re-Dedicate Jackie Robinson Statue,” on Aug. 19. As the author of “Beyond Home Plate: Jackie Robinson’s Life After Baseball,” Long gave his insight on Robinson in response to the Brooklyn Cyclones celebration of “Diversity Day,” at which attention was called to Jackie Robinson’s courage on and off the baseball field.

Mark Zimmerman, director of facilities management, was quoted in an Aug. 31 Lancaster Online article, titled “Recycling efforts expanding on college campuses here.” In the article, Elizabethtown College is mentioned along with other area schools, which are all working to reduce their carbon footprint. Zimmerman discusses the changes that Elizabethtown College has been making to do its part for the environment.

Donald Kraybill, professor of sociology, anthropology and religious studies, was asked to comment on NPR’s “All Tech Considered” about “Amish Community Not Anti-Technology, Just More Thoughtful,” aired Sept. 2. As the author of “The Amish,” Kraybill was asked to share his insight into the Amish community’s acceptance and rejection of certain kinds of technology.

Barry Fritz, technical operations director, was quoted in LiveDesign Online’s article, posted Aug. 30, titled “Elizabethtown College Packs a Punch with HARMAN’s Soundcraft Vi1 Audio Console.” He told the news source about the College’s recent advancements in performance area audio technology.

John Woods, the author of this year’s Open Book selection, titled “Creating Room to Read,” was featured Sept. 1 in a Lancaster Newspapers Inc. article, titled “E-town students open John Wood’s book on Room to Read,” in regard to his upcoming visit to the College.

Louise Hyder-Darlington, access services librarian, was featured in an article, titled “A swimmer’s pursuit of Liberty,” published Aug. 31 by Lancaster Newspapers Inc. The article documents Hyder-Darlington’s journey to prepare for a Statue of Liberty Swim event.
