Sending Announcements Versus Emails
Announcements on Canvas are a great way to virtually communicate with your whole class. Canvas allows users to reply to any announcements that are sent, so you may want to consider using Announcements for all course-related communication and save emails for communicating with individuals or groups of individuals. That way, all class communication resides where students have access to it. (And, if they want to have the announcements emailed to them, they can choose to do so in their notifications settings.)
You can also set up RSS feeds directly into the Announcements so that content from blogs can be posted directly to announcements for all to read.
