The process of updating all software for the upcoming school year has begun. For the 2015-2016 year, new updates have already been released or will be released in the near future in computer labs throughout campus.
It’s important to know which updates will come out and when. As a teacher, certain programs (especially for Science, Education, and Math departments) need to be fully functioning with the latest versions, and not having these for even a class or two can be a problem. Ensuring that your students have access to the latest versions of software is crucial for them to complete their work.
The link at the bottom of the article has a complete list of all current, planned, and possible future software updates. With this knowledge, you will know when the latest version for a program is released, and which programs you can request in computer labs.
If you know you won’t be using certain software next semester, please contact ITS as soon as possible. Controlling costs is important, and any upgrades or updates that are not necessary won’t be purchased. Any requests for dropping software, or a need for additional updates, must be sent by June 1st, 2015 to ensure the college has enough time to fulfill these requests.
